How To Write A Countable Noun

Determiners With Countable nouns

A countable noun such as 'book' can be in one of the following states:

1. A singular countable noun with a determiner

Articles: A, An, The

A book can teach you many things.  [any random book, unspecific]
The book can teach you many things.  [a specific book, already mentioned earlier]

Demonstratives: This, That

This book can teach you many things.

Possessives: My, Our, Your, His, Her, Its,  Their, X’s (possessive 's)

Her book helped me learn many things

Quantifiers: Every, Any, No

No book can teach you the thing I have just taught you.

2. A plural countable noun with or without determiners 


(Without determiner)


Books can teach you many things [all books in general]

(With determiner)

These, Those, All, Most, Many, Some, More, etc.  + a plural countable noun

Example: These books can help you in the exam



Incorrect: I like book. Reading book is my hobby. Book can teach us many things
