How To Make Tag Questions

A tag question or question tag or question tail is a technique of adding a mini question to a statement to become confirmed about the authenticity of that statement. There are two ways to add a question tag.

1. Positive statement + Negative question tag

You like pizza, don't you?
=You like pizza. Don't you like pizza?

2. Negative statement + Positive question tag

You don't like fish, do you?
=You don't like fish. Do you like fish?

Here is the way how you can make a tag question for a simple assertive sentence:

If the sentence is positive, make it negative or vice versa. Maeda is a good person.
-->Maeda is not a good person.
Make that interrogative. Is Maeda not a good person?
Use the contractionIsn’t Maeda a good person?
Use a pronoun if the subject is a noun.Isn’t he a good person?
Put a comma at the end of the sentence; add only the contraction along with the pronoun and a question mark. Isn’t he a good person?
-->Maeda is a good person, isn’t he?

Tag Question For Two Clauses

If there are two clauses, apply your common sense and select the one that bears the most importance.
I think you are Maeda, aren't you?
You think I am a loser, don't you?
