Misplaced Modifiers
We need to place a modifier BEFORE the target word. See the following examples:Misplaced Adverbs
Only I wear a tie in the office. (Nobody in the office wears a tie except me)
I only wear a tie in the office. (I just wear a tie but do nothing else in the office)
I wear only a tie in the office. (I wear just a tie but no other clothes in the office)
I wear a tie only in the office. (I wear a tie in the office, but not in any other place)
I only wear a tie in the office. (I just wear a tie but do nothing else in the office)
I wear only a tie in the office. (I wear just a tie but no other clothes in the office)
I wear a tie only in the office. (I wear a tie in the office, but not in any other place)
