Order of Adjectives

The Order of Adjectives: OCASCOMP

Native English speakers subconsciously follow a certain order when they use more than one adjective before a noun. The order is given below:
1. Quantity/Determiner → A, An, One, Two, This, My
2. Opinion → Beautiful, Ugly, Dangerous, Kind, Fat, Comfortable, Famous
3. Size → Large, Small, Tiny
4. Age→ New, Old, Young, Ancient, Historic, Traditional
5. Shape →Long, Flat, Round
6. Color → Red, Black, Blonde
7. Origin →Japanese, American, 
8. Material → Leather, Plastic, Gold
9. Purpose →Sports, Swimming, Gaming, Flower(vase),  Book(shelf)


Except for Quantity/Determiner, the first letters of the next words spell OSASCOMP.  This word or acronym can help you remember the order of adjectives


Examples:
✔She is a famous young Japanese actress. 
               1         2          4           7

She is a Japanese young famous actress
                    1          7                  4            2
